I was so excited to see that my seeds have started sprouting! Until I posted the picture in a gardening forum asking why the back rows were not germinating and someone replied, “You need more light! Your seedlings are tall and lanky! The term is etiolation if you want to know more about it!”
Curious, I researched the word. According to Wikipedia, “Etiolation is a process in flowering plants grown in partial or complete absence of light. It is characterized by long, weak stems; smaller leaves due to longer internodes; and a pale yellow color”
Another expert gardener commented,” Make sure you have a fan blowing! It is not for the air, but young seedlings will grow hardier stalks if there is a gentle breeze! It will prepare them for stronger wind gusts out in your garden!”
This newbie gardener was dumbfounded she thought her seedlings were growing fine.
As Christians, it is important for us to be surrounded by God’s light by immersing ourselves in God’s words and prayers daily as well as fellowshipping with other believers.
We are living in such a fast-pace way of life, with a click of a button you can send a message to the world, take a picture and you can see it instantly! Growing up, it took at least a week to get my pictures developed, crossing my fingers that they turned out good!
Growth takes time!
It’s a process to develop character and spiritual maturity! There is no short-cut. Sometimes, the process will involve the winds meant to strengthen you!1 Peter 5:10, “And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.
Let’s stay in the boat with Jesus,
